Dedapolis is currently in a very early alpha state. The basic site is in place, but there's a lot that hasn't been implemented yet. Our hope is that the core functionality of the site will be mostly operational by the end of 2023, and then if all goes well we'll consider it to be in beta. Among the many features that we plan to eventually implement (though not all of these will be in place by the end of 2023, and it may be a very long time before we get to some of them) are:
- Better art—the current art was rushed to get the site into a working alpha/proof of concept state, but the artist is working on improving it and adding more detail and animations
- Areas themed around different subjects—right now we only have the Science Quarter implemented, but eventually we want to make other areas for math, English, history, etc. (Not that the theming matters too much right now anyway, because a lot of the subject-specific theming is involved in features we haven't implemented yet...)
- Much larger question banks, with more customizability, including more question types (matching, ordering, write in the answer, etc.)
- Directed lessons within the game (within the academy itself, which we plan to eventually make an explorable environment
- For that matter, other explorable environments and minigames (that relate to the educational content and have learning purposes)
- Records of students' responses so teachers can see what they might be struggling with
- Making the questions students receive more adaptive, so they'll be more likely to get questions similar to questions they've missed in the past
- Music and sound effects
- Lots more creatures and different encounters, of course
- Ability for students to form teams or clans, and to fight in groups
- Opt-in PVP
- More character customization options
- Chat between players
- A forum for discussion
- Spellcasting and crafting skills (and more skills in general)
- Lots of additional types of shop (all using in-game "gold" (received through defeating enemies and completing other quests), not real money—nothing in the game will cost real-world money), including:
- Weapon stores
- Armor stores
- Pet stores (where you can buy "pets" that fight at your side)
- Trainers that can give players certain skills
- Tracts where you can buy a customizable home base for your character
- Stores where you can buy furnishings to decorate said homes
- The currently nonoperational game shop north of the Academy will be a place players can play a virtual card game (and buy virtual cards using the in-game "gold").
- Secret areas that can be unlocked
- "Dungeons" you can explore to get special treasure and bonuses (and to focus on studying specific topics)
- Special quests that can be undertaken at certain areas
- A crafting system that will allow players to craft items and furniture (and that will use some of the creature drops that are currently useless except as sale fodder).
- Maybe a mobile-friendly app version?
